Meet March’s Artist

John Floridis

John Floridis, Missoula, Montana based guitarist, singer-songwriter and composer has been a resident in the wide open spaces and "Big Sky" state since 1993 having moved there from the strong shouldered, down-but-never-out city of Cleveland, Ohio. He has released 10 recordings mixing bluesy, folk-rock vocal tunes with adventurous solo acoustic guitar compositions. His album “Live From 11th and Grant”, the soundtrack from the Montana PBS program of the same name was awarded a Northwest Emmy Award. His recording of guitar instrumentals “October’s Surprise” musically chronicled his recovery from open heart surgery. Floridis released two new recordings in 2023: “Thankful”, funded by the Montana Arts Council, a new full band recording of mostly original songs and “The Dimming Of The Day”, an autumnal themed solo singer songwriter album.

John was honored by Arts Missoula as its “Artist Of the Year” in 2024. He was also named Missoula's best musician by the Missoula Independent and remained a consistent finalist in that category each year.

Floridis has also consistently performed as part of both the International Wildlife and Big Sky Documentary film festivals.

For over 25 years John has been the producer and host of Montana Public Radio’s weekly feature Musician’s Spotlight for 20 years. The program is a multiple winner of the Montana Broadcasters Award for Best Non-Commercial Program.
